Homeowners Turn to Sale-Leasebacks

Due to the pandemic, many homeowners are turning to what’s called a sale-leaseback. This is a transaction where a property owner sells a home and then rents it back from the buyer so they do not have to move.

The question is – is this a benefit for home owners or causing new problems?

As rental-home investors around the U.S. snap up single-family houses, some investors are buying homes through sale-leaseback transactions, which offer struggling homeowners a way to pay off debt while staying in their home. But many experts worry they may never be homeowners again.
